mazeguy's News

In 2005, my brother and some of his friends made a short film called The Challenge. It’s about a man trying to beat the most unfair video game ever made. I was enlisted to animate the gameplay footage.

The game was called Hoagie’s Revenge, and starred an Italian deli owner battling the forces of evil with an endless supply of hoagies. About 25 animations were made of the player dying in the most bizarre ways I could come up with.

I thought I lost most of the sprites to a hard drive crash. Fortunately, the editor of the movie still had a file containing most of the animations in lossless quality. After ripping them, and recreating a few missing assets, I assembled these sprite sheets for your enjoyment:

Deli Owner - Enemies - Backgrounds - Effects/Extras

Years ago, several people asked if they could make a real game based on Hoagie’s Revenge. Since then, the Kaizo genre has risen in popularity. So if you want to put in the time and effort, you have my permission to use these sprites. Just be sure to credit me, please. :)

If you'd like to learn more about the movie, I wrote an article about it here:

And to see these sprites in action, you can watch this compilation video:

Lily meets Destiny for their date, with Candace and Yu-Ri tagging along for support. As it turns out, the backup wasn't necessary.

Lily forms a love connection with her kindhearted idol. Sadly, their bond is suddenly broken by a connection of a different sort.

You can read "Episode 5: A Date with Destiny" here or at ChucksDevils.com.

Lily is shocked when she's told their next target is a necklace worn by her favorite actress, Destiny.

The movie star's martial arts training foils their plans. But Destiny decides to give them the jewelry in exchange for a date with her superfan.

Destiny is a famous actress from action movies.  The Devils attempt to swipe her necklace, but her martial arts training foils their plans.

However, Destiny takes a liking to super-fan Lily, and the two form a complicated relationship that begins in "Episode 4: Decent Proposal".

Destiny makes her comic debut in May, and will be a recurring character throughout the series.  I hope you'll like her.  :)

A yellow smiley has appeared in many of our domino courses. However, smilies come in many different colors and emotions. Let's try making some of them!

Hello!  I'm Mike Perrucci, also known as mazeguy.  Over the past 20 years, I've created a bunch of different things:  Smilies, domino toppling videos, animations, and games, just to name a few.

In October, 2018, I launched my latest project:  a comic series called Chuck's Devils.  It's a Charlie's Angels parody starring three models turned thieves:

  • Candace, the disco queen with a big brain hiding under an even bigger afro.
  • Lily, the hippie radiating peace and love in an increasingly hostile world.
  • Yu-Ri, the tough South Korean who discovered Daisy Duke while in the American South.

Brought together by the shadowy Chuck, these misfit minions stumble through their new life of crime, as well as life with each other.

I'll be uploading episodes periodically, as well as some of my past animations and games.  I hope you'll enjoy them!
