This is the final panel of my comic, pixelated to avoid spoilers. After six years, 48 episodes, and 432 pages, Chuck’s Devils is finally complete. All I have left to do is upload them. They’ll be shared on the 25th of each month, with the last episode premiering in October, exactly six years after the first one.

Between episodes, I’d like to tell behind-the-scenes stories about my whole experience working on this lengthy project. The best place to start is the beginning, so this post will share my original model sheets of the three main characters.

Candace always had a massive hairdo, but then I thought, “Could it be bigger?” I made her afro even larger, and I’m so glad I did. This allowed for wacky sight gags such as Yu-Ri’s head getting stuck in her hair. Speaking of Yu-Ri…

Yu-Ri changed very little from her original sketch. That’s because she’s the only one based on a real person: Catherine Bach’s portrayal of Daisy Duke from The Dukes of Hazzard. I think her hair could have been curlier, though…

Lily had the most alterations, although the freckles were thankfully kept. Her shoulders were covered, and the bandana was turned into a scrunchie, resulting in a long ponytail. Hmm, I just couldn’t leave their hair alone, could I?

Yu-Ri and Lily’s necklaces are missing from their sketches. I think I added them later because Candace had a medallion, and I wanted them to have something similar. But as the comic progressed, the necklaces ended up representing their personalities, as well as those of secondary characters like Destiny and Catherine.

In a future post, I may go over how I converted the Devils from rough sketches to smooth vector drawings. If there’s anything you’d like to know, feel free to ask. October 25th is still four and a half months away, so I’ve got plenty of time. :)

Episode 43: Imperfect Angels is here! Chuck has grown impatient with the Devils' lack of success, and gives them one last chance to prove themselves. Yu-Ri is stunned to discover the target is a woman from her past who has already fallen victim since they parted ways.

Also, Tyler moves out of the Mini-Devils' home, but he doesn't go far in Minisode 33: Down with Doozers! The fourth roommate saga concludes next week.

In behind-the-scenes news, I only have five pages left to do and then Chuck's Devils is complete after nearly six years. There were times I almost gave up on it, like I've done with many other projects. It feels good to finally see the finish line and give the Devils the happy ending they deserve. Besides more Mini-Devils comics, there are other things I'd like to create afterwards, so I hope you'll keep following my progress. :)

Episode 42: Model Citizens is here! The Devils receive an unexpected visit from a fashionista who hires them to be real models and wear her latest designs. They like their potential new employer and profession, not to mention the paychecks. But what will Chuck think about it?

I hope you've been enjoying the Devils crossover event. The MIni-Devils return to their own universe on Sunday, but they'll have more adventures after that. I think I can make 72 minisodes in all. Combined with 432 pages of Chuck's Devils, that adds up to 504, which is plenty for me.

I'll try to add a new Mini-Devils comic every week from now on. The series will end with another Easter crossover about six months after Chuck's Devils wraps. It will be an opportunity to catch up with our heroes and confirm they really do live happily ever after.

Episode 41: Boredom of the Dismal Lull is here! Candace finds a treasure map, and the Devils embark on an epic quest to find it. Their amazing adventure is filled with tricky traps and exciting escapes. However, Yu-Ri can't help but feel like they've already experienced similar events in the past.

Starting on Easter Sunday, the Mini-Devils begin a five-part crossover series with their taller counterparts! Stay tuned for double the fun. :)

Episode 40: Escape the Room is available! While searching for the Golden Goose, the Devils become trapped and have a short amount of time to escape before they're caught. They'll have to look for clues and use various items scattered around a strange room to find the goose and free themselves.

Wow, I've made forty of these! Actually, I've made forty-three... they just haven't premiered yet. I put up the cover pages for upcoming episodes as teasers on the Chuck's Devils website.

As for the Mini-Devils, I hope you enjoyed seeing Candace and Tyler together at last. I liked it so much that I made another series of comics in which Tyler moves in! Episode 39: Gender Bender is available! The Devils learn firsthand how it feels to be the victims of theft when they discover their car has been stolen. They manage to track down their vehicle, as well as the culprits; another trio of thieves that seem strangely familiar.

New episodes of Chuck's Devils will be added on the 25th of each month from now on. If everything goes well, the finale (#48) will premiere October 25th, exactly six years after the first episode. The finish line is in sight, and I want to give Candace, Lily, and Yu-Ri the happy ending they've been striving for. I hope you're looking forward to it too.

Also, new episodes of Chuck's Mini-Devils have been added! First, they celebrated New Year's Eve. Then, Candace's long distance boyfriend Tyler paid her a visit. One of the unexpected joys of creating this spin-off is expanding on Candace and Tyler's relationship. The main comic was structured around Yu-Ri and Lily, so it's fun to shine a spotlight on the other a-dork-able couple.

I won't be making a news post for every new minisode, but the next ones will be uploaded on Jan. 28, Valentine's Day, Leap Day, St. Patrick's Day, and a big, five-part crossover event starting on Easter. Check out the Mini-Devils Playlist so you won't miss anything!

Merry Christmas! I have a couple of gifts for you...

First up is Episode 38: Wrestlemaniacs! Candace gets to participate in her favorite sport when the Devils slip into spandex and get in the ring so they can steal the Beauties of Wresting tag team titles. They cooperate with their opponents at first, but the fake fight suddenly turns all too real.

Next, Candace gives her friends a very special present in Minisode 16: Chick in a Box! January will be a big month for the Mini-Devils. They'll celebrate New Year's Day, then a surprise visitor will join them for several weeks, so stay tuned all month long!

Happy Thanksgiving, and thank you for reading! It's the beginning of the end as Part Four of Chuck's Devils premieres today. Only twelve episodes remain before Candace, Yu-Ri, and Lily's story wraps up.

The final part starts with Episode 37: Lily's Big Adventure! Lily loses her engagement ring during a mission, and gets separated from the other Devils while looking for it. She ends up far from home, and meets many strange people as she tries to return to Los Angeles and reunite with her finacée.

Meanwhile, the Mini-Devils give spanks to a naughty prankster in Minisode 15: Spanksgiving!

Episode 36: Fight For a Brighter Future is complete! Jae breaks in and overpowers Destiny, but the Devils back her up and help cuff him. Afterwards, Destiny befriends Yu-Ri and accepts her love for Lily. Finally, tears of joy are shed as Lily and Yu-Ri propose to each other simultaneously.

Part Three of Chuck's Devils has come to an end, with a dozen episodes left to go. I'll try my best to finish the whole thing by the end of 2024. I hope you'll follow along to see the epic conclusion!

Oh, and don't think I'd let Halloween go by without celebrating the holiday! The Mini-Devils dress up as each other in Minisode 14: Trick? No, Treat!

On October 25th, 2003, I launched my personal website, mazeguy.net. This is a look back on how the site has developed over the past two decades.

A couple hundred smilies grew into a couple thousand. A hobby went from my parents' basement to museums across the country. A simple parody expanded into a comic over 400 pages long.

All of this, plus animations, games, artwork, and more have been added to my website over the course of twenty years. I hope you'll visit and stay tuned for what's still to come. :)
