Hello! I'm Mike Perrucci, also known as mazeguy. Over the past 25 years, I've made smilies, domino toppling videos, animations, games, and most recently, a webcomic. I'll be sharing some of these creations here. I hope you'll enjoy them! :)

100 Art Submissions! (and some life advice)

Posted by mazeguy - May 5th, 2020

After 16 months on Newgrounds, I've finally reached 100 art submissions! The most popular pieces by far involve pixel art. Here are a few highlights:

I started making pixel art in 1986 with Dazzle Draw for the Apple IIe. I wrote an article detailing my history since then, which you can read here: http://mazeguy.net/history.html

The majority of my art submissions (85 at last count) are for a comic series I've been working on for about two years now. It's called Chuck's Devils, a Charlie's Angels parody starring three aspiring models turned thieves.

I enjoy illustrating the misadventures of Candace, Lily, and Yu-Ri, and am excited about revealing what the future holds for the troubled trio, but the webcomic hasn't gotten many views. At the risk of sounding needy, have any of you ever read any episodes? Please feel free to ask any questions or provide feedback, either positive or negative.

Of course, I know I should be following my own advice. I follow some people here on Newgrounds and have favorited a few movies and games, but I have yet to provide any reviews. Expressing myself has always been a struggle for me, and critiquing other people's work is no exception. I think the trouble stems from being a target of bullies growing up, and receiving bad advice on how to handle it:

"Ignore it and they'll go away". If they see they're not getting to you, they'll stop and pick on someone else.

They never stopped, because I was a "soft target", someone they knew wouldn't defend himself. Now I'm not telling anyone to fight back by punching a bully in the mouth, although I won't hold it against you if you did. I'm saying what I wish someone had said to me back then: Never let anyone make you feel bad for getting good grades, looking different, or liking offbeat stuff.

So, yeah. 100 art submissions. Yay me.
